Welcome to Love + Craft Kitchen’s (LCK’s) Cooking Well - a chef-created digest of ingredients, recipes, cooking tips, techniques, and culinary lifestyle tidbits for at-home cooks of all levels.

For me, ingredients are the key.

Over the years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the immense power and connectedness of food to our health and well-being. I subscribe to a general “less processed” approach to cooking and recipe development, gaining inspiration from the Mediterranean and Food as Medicine dietary styles.

My focus is on exploring and selecting nutrient-rich and better-quality ingredients - vegetables, fruit, proteins, whole grains, legumes, fats, herbs, spices, and minimally-processed specialty foods - to create wonderfully enjoyable meals that just so happen to support overall health and well-being.

It is my goal to share my experience and expertise with others to build a solid foundation for cooking well at home.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR (and Chef)

I like to say that it all started with an Easy Bake Oven! At an early age, a passion for cooking and baking developed within me, and that passion has never faded. Whether cooking alongside my mother, grandmother, or aunt, or trying a recipe on my own, cooking was a creative way in which I expressed love and care for others.

Professionally, I have an MAEd in Education and am formally trained in Culinary Arts. I spent many years as a classroom teacher, college faculty member, and corporate training leader, and in various restaurant, catering, and culinary director positions. I am truly a lifelong learner, regularly attending culinary and health and wellness classes, workshops, and conferences, translating what I learn into my cooking.

Personally, I love:

  • trying new restaurants

  • checking out farmers’ markets and specialty food stores

  • sharing meals with others

  • attending social and cultural events

  • gardening

  • reading

  • enjoying the outdoors - ocean, mountains, neighborhoods, and everything in between
